Tianjin Port Explosion

The Xingang port in the northern city of Tianjin, China, is currently closed due to a catastrophic explosion. Authorities are working hard to get the port and surroundings areas back into an operational state. At this point we do not know the full extent of any operational issues regarding cargo, but disruptions and delays will be unavoidable.

The blast was reported to be caused from HAZ MAT cargo in containers.

All our Tianjin team are safe and have had smooth communication with all relevant departments, our team are all safe and our thoughts are with everyone affected.

While there have been much improvement with most warehouses and the port operating normally, there are still on-going issues:

• Some parts of the port have been sealed off and the containers in these areas have been unable to be released
• Empty containers were damaged in the explosion causing a shortage
• The traffic surrounding the port is congested causing some delays
• Hazardous cargo cannot be moved through the Xiangang port and we expect this ban to continue while new standards are put in place

Shipping hazardous goods?

The hazardous cargo ban at the Tianjin port is pushing these shipments to other northern city ports resulting in strict regulations being placed on the shipping of all hazardous cargo. Any proposed shipment of hazardous cargo is subject to approval.
