Italian Transport Strike - update December 10th 2013
We have been advised that from 9th Dec 2013 to 13th Dec 2013 there will be general truck transportation strike throughout Italy. Due to this strike, there may be delays in cargo collections and deliveries. We appreciate your understanding and will endeavor to complete all cartage requirements as soon as possible under these circumstances.
Italian transport Strike - October 2013
We have been advised that from midnight on 28th October to midnight 3rd November 2013, there will be a general truck transport strike throughout Italy. Due to this strike, there may be delays in cargo collections and deliveries. Our service providers will endeavor to complete all cartage requirements as soon as possible under these circumstances.
Mumbai (Nhava Sheva) Port Strike
According to reports, cargo activity at DP World’s container terminal at the Nhava Sheva Port has almost come to a standstill. Disruptions at work started on October 11, after wage negotiations between DP World and 300 union workers fell through. The workers have allegedly adopted a “go slow’’ strategy.
The situation has now worsened to a lockout and there is no apparent solution. Some vessels are sailing without export containers being loaded, and without imports being discharged.
DP World is trying to get additional labour from other terminals to help with the operations during this strike, or to divert vessels to other terminals in order to handle the cargo. There are also attempts to bring the parties to start negotiations.
